The Minneapolis Tribune of May 25, 1867 gives an account of the first inter-city match between Minneapolis and St. Paul base ball clubs the previous day...(see accounts of early games for full report)

The North Star Club of St. Paul won the game from Minneapolis 56 to 26. It is quite likely that the Minneapolis club formed earlier (possibly in 1866) and played some inter-squad matches previous to this May 1867 game.
