The Vicksburg Daily Commercial, July 26, 1880: The Hancock base ball club [of Meridian] go to Greenville on the ninth of August, to play a match game at that city.โ
Greenville MS (pop. about 34,400) is on the Mississippi River, about 100 miles NW of Jackson, about 80 miles N of Vicksburg, and about 160 miles NW of Meridian.
