The first known reference to the Frontier Club of Oswego is a short motice of a game in Oswego against the Syracuse BBC on September 23, 1859. Syracuse won by 19 runs.

Oswego NY is about 35 miles NW of Syracuse, on the shore of Lake Ontario.

The population of Oswego County in 1860 is reported as about 75,000. The city of Oswego's population is now about 17,000.
