The Statesville Landmark, July 5, 1875, notes that the Concord Base Ball Club has challenged the Statesville club.

Concord NC (current pop. 79,000) is about 20 miles NE of Charlotte and Statesville (current pop. 25,000) are about 40 miles apart, with Statesville directly N of Charlotte.
