“Letter from Louisa [June 6] …A match game of base ball took place here last Saturday afternoon between a club in this county and the Gordonsville club, the latter being victorious. The Star club of this town was beaten not long since by the Gordonsville club.” Petersburg Index Appeal, June 10, 1878.
