The Bennington Banner Oct. 4, 1866: the Putnams of North Pownal played the Titan BBC of Pownal on Saturday, with the Titans winning 42 to 17.
Pownal (current pop. about 3,500) is tucked in the SW corner of the state, about 2 miles from New York State and 12 miles NW of North Adams MA.
