The St. Louis Globe Democrat, Aug. 7, 1875: "Suburban. St. Charles, Mo. The Brown Sox won a victory by large figures over a picked nine Tuesday..." Same Aug. 11, 1875 mentions the Brown Sox of St. Charles beating the "Hamburgs" at Mechanicsville. St. Charles is west and a bit north of St. Louis.
