The Chicago Tribune, June 24, 1871 reports that the Tigers of Lockport played the Stone City Juniors of Joliet at Joliet recently. The Chicago Daily Inter Ocean, Aug. 26, 1875 reports that the Morris White Stockings will play the Stone City of Joliet next Saturday in Joliet. There was a report of an 1851 Joliet team playing Lockport. See "early games." By 1875 the Stone City seem to be a semi-pro team--at least, another article noted that they were playing the Chicago White Stockings in September and had some ex-Major Leguers on their team.
