Atchison "Freedom's Champion" Aug. 8, 1867 reports that on "Friday last" (Aug. 2) the Kaw Valley BBC of Lawrence beat the Frontier BBC of Leavenworth 29 to 21. Same Aug. 1, 1867 says the Frontier BBC had just claimed to be the champion team of Kansas.
Lawrence KS is in the northeastern part of the state, about 40 miles SW of Kansas City KS and about 25 miles E of Topeka.
