The Memphis Avalanche, July 28, 1867 says a baseball club has been formed in Holly Springs.
Holly Springs MS (pop. about 8000) is about 190 miles N of Jackson and about 45 miles SE of Memphis TN. Established in 1836 in territory previously held by the Chickasaw, the town was a prominent railway junction starting in 1855.
