"Base Ball. The first game, by the newly organized Club, was played on Walnut Hills, last Friday. There were nine players on a side, and the contest is said to have been an exciting and spirited affair, but as we have not been furnished with the score, we cannot lay it before the curious in such matters. A gentleman who was present at the game, and who is well posted in base ball and cricket, declares that the play would not have disgraced the celebrated New York Club. The players adopted the manly and scientific method of catching the ball without waiting for it to touch the ground, the same system adopted by the majority of cricketers. The Club will play another match game upon the same ground, some day this week."
