The Cincinnati Daily Gazette, Aug. 19, 1867, says the Holt BBC of Newport played the Riversides of Portsmouth, with Portsmouth winning 44-37.
Portsmouth OH (1860 pop. about 6,200; 1870 pop. about 10,600) is about 100 miles SE of Cincinnati and near the WV border.
