The Anderson Intelligencer, June 28, 1877, pronounces: “The base ball mania has at last seized upon the inhabitants of Anderson, and we have formed two clubs….” (the Anderson and the Anderson Junior)

Anderson SC (1880 pop 1,850)is about 30 miles SW of Greenville SC.
