The Portland Oregonian, July 19, 1873, says Olympia boasts of a club that can beat any "nine" in Oregon. Same Sept. 17, 1879 says a picked nine of Portland base ball players are going to Olympia for the fair, and that BBCs from Victoria, Vancouver and Portland plan to compete against them.
Olympia WA (1870 pop. about 1,200; 1880 pop. about 1,300) is about 50 miles SW of Seattle and about 30 miles SW of Tacoma WA.
