Nelson W. Durham, "The History of the City of Spokane and Spokane County, Washington," vol. 1 p. 358, says that in the July 4th, 1879 celebration, the Spokane Falls [as it was then called] BBC played a picked nine of the local surveying party, and in a game called by rain after 1 inning, won 13 to 8.
