William E. Akin, "West Virginia Baseball: A History, 1865-2000" p. 10 says the Stonewall BBC of Charles Town organized in July 1866, followed soon by the Jefferson and Old Dominion BBCs.
The Stonewall contained a large number of Confederate army veterans of the "Stonewall" Brigade.
Charles Town WV (current pop. about 5,200) is at the eastern edge of WV and about 30 miles S of Hagerstown MD.
