San Francisco Daily Evening Bulletin, Oct. 30, 1869: "Los Angeles, October 29: The Energetics of this city and the St. Vincent's College Baseball Clubs are to play a game soon for the championship." Same Nov. 9, 1869 says the Energetics won this game 25 to 20. Same, Nov. 15, 1869: "Los Angeles.... Another base-ball club, the California, has been organized." Same, July 18, 1870 mentions the Phoenix BBC of Los Angeles.
